"Whooo Let the Birds Out?"

No
great observations this week. The geese have stayed away for the most
part. I saw them hanging out in a huge flock at Indian Hill grazing on
the lawn like cows. I wouldn't want to go barefoot on that lawn!
At Depot Street, the ducks are
most prevalent. They have a new trick now and that is they like poking
around the hosta patch nest to the deck. They have flattened the
petunias and are doing a good job at smashing down the hostas as well.
If I'm puttering in the garden, they think I'm doing something
suspicious so they get right in there looking for something. The
ducklings are as big as the adults and tend to be friendlier than the
rest. When I leave for work in the morning, they follow me to the
truck, unless I give them their breakfast of cracked corn.
The Goldfinch, Purple Finch,
HUmmingbirds and Mourning Doves are sturdy feeders at the tray.
The Grackles had left (thankfully) but have returned in the past couple
days. They are such pests!
FIfi Snowden reported a Belter
Kingfisher was using her deck railing as a perch. It would sit there
looking around like he was perched on a branch over the stream poking
for minnows.
