Florida: Siberian tiger burst through its pen, mauls park employee
CENTER HILL – A worker at an exotic animal
park in northern Florida was fatally mauled by a tiger Tuesday, authorities
said. The man, who handled various chores at Savage Kingdom, entered a
cage to make repairs, and the animal burst in from an adjoining pen. “For
lack of a better word, it busted through,” Sumter County Sheriff’s Lt.
Gary Brannen said. He said the parks operator, Robert Baudy, shot
the mixed-breed Siberian tiger so rescue crews could get inside.
Paramedics said the man suffered a fatal bite to his neck as well as severe
injuries to his head, arm and ribs.
